Homes For Sale in Vadnais Heights Minnesota
Vadnais Heights City Website

Directly north of St. Paul, Vadnais Heights has a population of about 13,000, which city officials think is going to peak at about 16,000. Lots of higher priced homes are going up in the city's northern tier. More modest '60's and '70's split-levels and ramblers are the mode in the southern part. Average home prices are around $170,000. Median household income is close to $45,000.

Vadnais Heights has followed a well established building plan that left ample open spaces creating a rural ambiance. Lakes, wetlands and ponds have become natural backdrops for residential neighborhoods. More than 100 streets in the city end in cul-de-sacs due to many wetlands. Rural in feel does not mean isolated - residents enjoy convenient freeway access to both Minneapolis and St. Paul via Interstate 694 and 35E.

Two beautiful lakes, East Lake Vadnais and West Lake Vadnais make Vadnais Heights a special kind of expanding suburb. In fact, about a quarter of the city's land is taken up by these two lakes (connected by a small canal) and the forest that surrounds them. Since the city of St. Paul owns and manages the lakes -- they are used as reservoirs for the city's water supply -- they are free of pollution and it shows in the natural beauty of the lakeside environment. The public is only allowed to fish in a couple of areas. For hikers, cyclists and nature lovers, the lakes are a true treat. In addition to the twin lakes, there are also 13 parks within city limits.

On the eastern side of Vadnais Heights is the industrial area and almost half of its 300 acres still are undeveloped. Employing about 4500 people are companies like H.B. Fuller, 3M and IC Systems, more than 150 businesses total. Wal-Mart built a store here recently and there appears to be more retail development in the city's future.
